Why Instant.Lawyer
Instant.Lawyer is a hypersecure platform at the intersection of AI and blockchain, built to augment productivity, automate complex workflows, and improve how decisions are made in the real world. We’re part of a growing ecosystem including Instant.Tax and Instant.Accountants, leveraging reasoning-capable LLMs customized by our team of lawyers, accountants, engineers, and scientists.
Our software combines AI, machine learning, cryptography, and incentive systems into a single architecture designed to operate continuously and reliably. It is researched, built, and tested by a team that understands both the technical and real-world consequences of decision-making systems. With strong early traction and growing demand, we are scaling deliberately and hiring people who want to build infrastructure that matters.
Here's why Instant.Lawyer needs you:

We are working on a simple idea with significant implications. Technology should improve life for people, families, businesses, and communities. Not occasionally, but continuously. That standard starts with the team. We invest in our people so they can build systems the world can depend on.

-
We are building safe, interoperable, decentralized AI systems designed to operate across domains, environments, and real-world constraints;
-
We have strong product-market fit and are working with leading organisations across AI, finance, and legal services;
-
We are backed by global investors who understand the scale of what is being built and support long-term execution;
-
World-Class Team: We’re hiring the best talent from Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Stripe, Tesla, and more, blending expertise across engineering, law, and design.
-
Partnerships:Our engineers and researchers collaborate directly with leading model providers including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and Meta LLaMA.
-
We offer packages that are "North of Fair" to attract and retain world-class talent to work alongside each other.
Role Overview
As an Agentic Systems Architect, you will define how decision-making systems operate at Instant.Lawyer.

We are building systems that do not just generate outputs, but take actions in the real world. The challenge is not model capability. It is how the system behaves over time.
You will design the structure that governs this behaviour.

This includes how agents:
-
take in context
-
decompose and sequence tasks
-
act under constraints
-
verify outcomes
-
and recover from failure
You will operate across architecture, platform, and product. The systems you design will be used by other engineers, not just end users. Your responsibility is to create clear paths for correct behaviour, where teams can build effectively without needing to understand every underlying detail.
This role combines system design with team leadership. You will guide a team responsible for platform-level infrastructure while working closely with Applied LLM Engineers and domain experts. The work spans long-term architecture and short-term delivery at the same time.
You will:
-
define system boundaries and ownership across teams
-
review and shape agent and pipeline architectures
-
ensure consistency in how decisions are structured and executed
-
balance platform stability with rapid iteration
You do not need to write code every day, but you must be technically fluent. You should be comfortable reading and reviewing code, engaging in system design discussions, and using modern tools to prototype and validate ideas when needed.

This role requires strong judgement across systems and people. You will work with teams that have different incentives and constraints, aligning them without adding friction.
Your focus is on building systems that other teams can rely on, extend, and trust in production.

The strongest candidates will have built platform or developer tooling teams before, and are motivated to apply that experience to systems where behaviour is driven by language models rather than deterministic code.
What You'll Own
-
The end-to-end agent loop
(context → reasoning → decision → action → verification)
-
Multi-agent coordination
(task decomposition, delegation, orchestration)
-
System-level behaviour
(not model outputs, but how the system behaves over time)
-
Failure modes and recovery
(fallbacks, escalation, human intervention)
-
Interfaces between: intelligence, constraints & execution
What You Will Build
-
Agent orchestration frameworks
-
Decision pipelines that operate under uncertainty
-
Control systems for non-deterministic environments
-
Real-time feedback and verification loops
-
Scalable architectures for continuous operation
What You Have

-
5+ years of experience in software engineering, distributed systems, or systems architecture
-
Proven experience designing and shipping complex, production-grade systems (not prototypes)
-
Experience building or working with: agent-based systems, orchestration, frameworks or multi-step decision pipelines
-
Strong understanding of: system design, state management, failure handling and recovery.
-
Experience operating systems in real-time or high-availability environments
-
Proficiency in one or more backend languages (e.g. Python, Go, TypeScript, Java)
-
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, researchers, and domain experts.
Bonus Points
-
Experience with LLM-based systems, tool use, or agent frameworks
-
Background in: distributed systems, robotics, trading systems or autonomous systems
-
Experience designing non-deterministic or probabilistic systems
-
Exposure to regulated environments (legal, finance, healthcare)
-
Familiarity with constraint systems, formal logic, or decision theory
-
Experience leading architecture decisions in high-growth or early-stage environments
Compensation Range
$300,000 - $350,000 USD
